Students undergoing Black Belt Training will learn all of the additional striking and self-defense techniques, sparring, weapons handling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in order to earn their Junior Black Belt.  Students are trained in the use of bo staff, nunchukas, kali sticks, and kamas.  The Black Belt Team is comprised of students committed to the goal of becoming black belts and one day joining our Elite Team and Demo Team.

When a student demonstrates the attitude, aptitude, and desire to become a Black Belt Leader in all areas of their life, they are invited to join our Elite Team.  Forca’s Elite Team focuses on additional weapons curriculum – including the samurai sword, double kali sticks, and double chux – as well as traditional martial arts katas.  Elite team members also receive special leadership, competition, and life-skills training.  Students must be at least 8 years old to engage in Elite Team Training.

Black Belt and Elite Team members may be interested in joining our martial arts Demo Team!  Força’s Martial Arts performance team has made several appearances around town to perform at festivals, events, cookouts, and more. Our team puts on a flashy show set to music to showcase their martial arts, board breaking, and weaponry skills. Bi-annual tryouts are posted early so students can get a head start on polishing up their routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my child get hurt?
We have had children come to our academy for years without ever obtaining a single injury. This is actually the case with most children. Have children gotten injured while training martial arts? Yes, some have. But the injuries are typically no different than those associated with basketball and other low-impact sports. There are always multiple instructors present on the mats, keeping a close eye on any action occurring on the floor. We also continuously teach the children to “be aware of their surroundings” in order to protect themselves and keep each other safe. From padded floors to proper gear to step-by-step instruction, we do everything in our power to insure your child’s safety. We can’t guarantee your child won’t be injured – but we CAN tell you that almost no children receive injuries in our program. And that’s because we take your child’s safety very seriously.
Will my child become violent?
Absolutely not! We do not teach kids how to kick and punch so they can go down the street and beat up the neighbor’s kid. Instead, we teach kids self-defense as a tool for personal growth and development. We have multiple mat chats about when it is appropriate to use their martial arts skills and when it is not appropriate. We instill in our young students respect for all living things – from their parents to their pets.
Do you earn belts?
Yes! Children involved in our Kids Mixed Martial Arts program will have the opportunity to earn their Junior Black Belt. As they grow through the program, their expectations at every belt level will grow. We do NOT require that a child tests, but we do encourage every child to set martial arts goals and work toward achieving them.  All children are made aware of what is required of them to earn their rank in Mixed Martial Arts. Kids can also begin their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo belt journeys at Força’s Academy as well. We have many opportunities for your child to succeed at martial arts and achieve the ultimate goal of earning their Black Belt.
What if my child does not want to come to class?
There are times when even we as adults do not feel like getting out of the recliner to head to the gym. There will be times that children feel the same way, especially after a 7-hour day at school.  However, it is our promise to instill good work ethic in our students by requiring regular classroom attendance.  It is important to note how your child feels AFTER their martial arts class. Are they still tired or unhappy? Probably NOT! Most children leave their martial arts classes feeling upbeat, accomplished, and excited about what they have learned.
What age is appropriate for martial arts?
Our Kids Martial Arts Programs begin at the young age of 3, but that doesn’t mean it has to for everyone. No child is exactly the same as any other. During our two introductory private lessons, the children and parents can decide for themselves if they are ready to embark on their martial arts journey. It’s an enjoyable and no-pressure way for parents and children alike to get a feel for what martial arts training and the academy itself have to offer before making any commitments.
