Tim Amerson of Dardanelle, age 17, competed at the Midsouth Golden Gloves in North Little Rock this past weekend taking second place in the novice 165lb division.
Tim began training at Força Martial Arts with the Russellville Police Boxing Club in 2016. Having no prior boxing experience and weighing over 200 pounds, Tim has turned his life around by dedicating himself to boxing and now trains daily.
Tim’s parents attend practices and have witnessed both Tim and his younger brother transform their confidence through self-discipline and dedication to the sport of boxing. Tim’s mother has commented on how his involvement in the boxing club has positively influenced his motivation at school and at home. His grades are higher and he has finally found his passion.
The Russellville Police Boxing Club is currently accepting boxers ages 8 and up. Boxing classes are free to members of the River Valley Community. Youth and Teens under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or guardian before practicing.
